Ok so I just bought my ticket for NERD and Common which costed $65 for general admission (damn!) then I get an email about this! I am broke but I don’t have a choice but to go. Method Man is the love of my life (shhh don’t tell Pharrell) and I MUST go! I saw him in concert in Austin a couple of years ago and it was one of the best hip hop shows I have ever been to, and I was in the very back! I’ve never seen Redman in concert but he is crazy and you can just tell he puts on a good show!
They will be at the House of Blues on November 16, and tickets go onsale this Friday!

Boycott the SLIP IN!! AND Vickery Park Too!!
Anybody who knows me knows the Slip In has always been my spot. It WAS a cool little hole in the wall that played good hip hop, fun bar staff, and had a nice diverse crowd. Me and friends of have mine have been regulars there for the past few years. I will never step foot in that place again.
The new owners of the Slip Inn held a staff meeting a couple of weeks ago and said they want to “thin out” the amount of African-Americans in the crowd. To be exact, they want no more than 30% of the crowd to be made up of African Americans at any time. To achieve this, they are telling their djs to play less hip hop, and they made up some bullshit dress code - check out the pic below.
It’s kinda blurry but says:
NO excessively baggy clothing
NO jumpsuits
NO bandanas, stockings, or do-rags
NO shorts between the knees and ankles
NO blue jean shorts
NO chains outside shirts
NO jerseys
NO sleeveless shirts
NO “muscle” or “wife-beater” shirts
NO hats
NO white tees
NO screen tees
T-shirts are at the discretion of the establishment
They pretty much put anything on there that a stereotypical black male wears. Jumpsuits?! That one made me laugh. Oh and don’t you love how they say no “screen tees” but have a note that “t-shirts are at the discretion of the establishment” = if you’re a white guy wearing a screen tee, it’s ok.
As a matter of fact, a friend of mine, MYK, who has been a regular there forever and is friends with everyone who works there was mentioned in the meeting as an example of the type of people they do not want at the Slip In.
These new owners are racist assholes! They should’ve never bought the place!! They own Vickery Park too which was a cool hangout but I will never go there again either. BOYCOTT THE SLIP IN! AND VICKERY PARK!
